Friends, I have so much I want to share from my adventures in Europe! Let’s start with the beginning of the trip, in Paris.

I was there with two of my best friends from college, Kris and Turner (whose real name is Laura… that’s her nickname). Kris lives/works in Paris, and Turner was enjoying a summer fellowship for her PhD program in Giverny, about an hour outside Paris. Clearly I had to make the push and visit while they were both there!

We were lucky to have absolutely stunning weather for the majority of the trip, and took advantage with lots of outdoor walking time. We must have walked a thousand miles each day, and I loved it.

I’ve been to Paris before and have seen most of the main touristy spots, so instead of doing all the museums we mostly just enjoyed strolling around, enjoying each other’s company, and eating some delicious food. Image may be NSFW.

These lover’s locks cover many of the city’s bridges – apparently they are so heavy they actually make the bridge railings fall down every so often and need to be replaced! The city isn’t a huge fan of the tradition for that reason, as you can imagine…

On the food front, we had falafel (and I randomly also got carrot juice) in Le Marais, a historic district of Paris that’s fun to walk around (and is where the best falafel lives):

Enjoyed some macarons for dessert:

Sampled the pastries all around town (my favorites are the apple pastries!):

Enjoyed rosé along the Canal Saint-Martin (cool area to hang out – hipster central):

We had dinner that night at a wonderful place along the canal called La Marine – worth checking out if you’re in the area. Escargot ftw! And a cheese plate for dessert, so French of us. Image may be NSFW.

Another dinner recommendation is Rue Montparnasse, where there are a ton of cute crepe cafes.

The savory crepes are made with a really good and hearty buckwheat flour, while the sweet crepes are made with normal lighter flour. I had a ham, cheese, and tomato for my entrée, and shared an apple caramel crepe with Kris for dessert. Plus cider, the standard accompaniment to the crepes!

Another highlight was a recommendation from many of you: Angelina’s! It’s a beautiful, posh (and very popular – be prepared to wait) tearoom. We went one afternoon after walking a million miles, ready for a snack, and shared an assortment of pastries, espresso, and hot chocolate. Image may be NSFW.

Coming up tomorrow: stay tuned for a fun post about running/urban adventure boot camping in Paris. I was very well carbo-loaded for my workouts, that’s for sure. Image may be NSFW.
