Hi from the beach! Matt and I are here for our annual Outer Banks, NC week long beach vacation with his family and family friends. One of my favorite weeks of the year!
We made the drive to NC on Saturday afternoon, and before we left I got in a long run for Marine Corps Marathon training. I rocked my new Will Run for Bacon tank – comfy! You’ll be seeing a lot more of it. 
My buddy Sokphal joined me for the adventure, which started at her place in Rosslyn and took us up through Rock Creek Park in northwest DC.
I hadn’t run in Rock Creek in ages – it’s so pretty in there! Also, hi to the blog reader that was out there running too and said hello!
As pretty as this run was, it was a total strugglefest, not gonna lie. Is anyone else feeling ROUGH in this humid running weather?! Aghhhhh! I was so spoiled last weekend running in low humidity Oregon!
Thank you to Sokphal for putting up with my requests to stop and walk/drink water/stretch/do anything but run on a frequent basis. And thank you to her for helping me to power through to make it to 10 miles, too! If I’d been alone I’m pretty sure I would have just quit a mile in… this is why I never run alone. 
Best part of the run? When I convinced Sokphal to stop just shy of her place so we could get Starbucks and walk the rest of the way to cool down. #tomatoface
Grande iced whole milk latte with 1 pump mocha? Don’t mind if I do.
I can’t wait for fall running weather – every single summer I go through this period where I’m like, “Oh my gosh. Do I actually hate running and just didn’t realize it until now?!” And then the second the weather cools down and we have beautiful mornings I realize it was actually just the heat I didn’t like, not the running. Thankfully I have awesome running buddies to help me to power through all the humid runs until fall!
How do you feel about running in the heat/humidity? It’s crazy how much harder it is!
