Hi friends! Now that I’ve shared my Nike Women’s Half Marathon race recap, I wanted to share some of the other adventures I got into while in San Francisco. Here are some of the highlights!

Sightseeing

It was an AMAZING weather weekend in San Francisco – we got so lucky! Clearly I had to take advantage.

Sarah, Emily, and I had fun strolling all around on Saturday afternoon and taking it in.

I also had the opportunity to meet up with my aunt, uncle, and cousin who live in the area. I walked around a ton more with them – we had a great time catching up!

One of the biggest sightseeing highlights was a biking tour all around SF with my friend Ashley – I took a million photos so I’ll split that into a separate post. Stay tuned. :)

The Food!

Of course, the food in San Francisco was a bit highlight! I went to a ton of great places – here they are in case you want to check them out! Thank you to those of you who sent recommendations either via email or social media, too!

Seed + Salt

This organic, vegan café in the Marina area treated the ClassPass Runner team to a complimentary lunch one afternoon that rocked my world. Highly recommend if you are ever in the area! I shared the vegan burger and the quinoa falafel (in a collard wrap) with Emily. Yummm!

They have great baked goods, too – I tried the vegan chocolate chip cookie and the gluten free banana bread – both were amazing. I ended up going back to the café later on in the trip as a paying customer with my family and then again with my friend Ashley – this time for afternoon green smoothies! :) Also delish! And so were those Jackson’s Honest sweet potato chips. :)

The Plant Café Organic

Another awesome spot! This was near-ish to our hotel (we went to the downtown location, but they have a few locations), and I walked there one morning for breakfast. They have great looking juices and smoothies, but I went for an egg, white cheddar, and spinach sandwich with avocado. Really good!

Prospect

On Friday night, I went to dinner at Prospect with some fellow bloggers in town for the race (in attendance: me, Emily, Ashley, Jane, Kristine, Kayla, and Evann). Thank you to Ashley for organizing the dinner for us – loved meeting/seeing everyone!

I didn’t get many food photos since the lighting was so dim, but Ashley, Kristine, and I shared a delicious Chardonnay, and I had two starters as my main meal – a tomato mozzarella salad (amazing) and the beef tartar with toast. Yum! Fun night.

Marlowe

On Friday, right after landing, I met my grad school buddy Elle for lunch at a cute spot near her office called Marlowe.

We shared the crispy Brussels sprouts leaves to start, which were AMAZING – they tasted so salty and crunchy!

And then I had the shrimp roll. :) Also delish, and so good to catch up with Elle!

Pacific Catch

This restaurant was another good find in the Marina area (thank you to blog reader Sarah for this rec!) – fun vibe and good food! I went there the evening after the race with my friend Ashley and POUNDED some serious tacos. And sweet potato fries. And salad, for good measure. 😉 Eyes were a little bigger than stomach, but this was so good.

Blue Barn

On my last night in San Francisco, I stayed with my friend Heather in Russian Hill area – we hit up a cute spot called Blue Barn for dinner. It’s an order at the counter, salad/sandwich type place with a really cool vibe. Since I’m obsessed with kombucha, I clearly had to try this local one – Marin Kombucha. The pinot sage flavor was as good as it sounds!

As for dinner, I had a big Asian-inspired tuna salad. It was ENORMOUS – I barely made a dent – but good!

PA190073

We shared some fries, too. :) Yep – two dietitians shared fries. You’re welcome.

To cap off the evening, we walked over to the Loving Cup for some fro-yo. They blend their fro-yo with mix-ins – mine was chocolate frozen yogurt with coconut and almond butter blended in. AMAZING.

One more recommendation to end this post that is not food-related: check out Union Yoga in Russian Hill!

Heather and I went there on Tuesday morning for their 6 a.m. class and it was wonderful. Such a nice, calming way to start the day. :) They sadly aren’t on ClassPass, but a drop in for a 1 hour class was $14 – not bad!

Stay tuned for my final San Francisco recap, coming on Friday: all about biking the Golden Gate Bridge! :)
