First things first – want some recipe ideas for Super Bowl Sunday? Check out my post from last year: 7 Healthy (and delicious) Super Bowl Snacks. I know what I’ll be making – my Healthier 7 Layer Dip!

And now, welcome to the very final Costa Rican honeymoon adventures recap! If you missed the previous recaps, check those out first:

Our last excursion while staying at the JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa was a morning of scuba diving.

We booked our dive through our hotel with the Pacific Coast Dive Center. I’m actually scuba dive certified (I got my certification on the Great Barrier Reef when I was studying abroad in Australia in college), but I hadn’t been scuba diving since 2003! It was awesome to go again. Matt’s not certified but has been before, so we just did a brief refresher (20 minutes in a pool) before heading out with the group.

On the boat on the way out to the dive spot!

Before too long, it was time to gear up! Man, I’d forgotten how hard it is to walk with all that heavy stuff on!

And then in we went! Since Matt and I were on the beginner-ish level, one of the guides dove with us. This was great because he had an underwater camera, and they posted all the pictures for free on their Facebook page later that day!

It was a little murky under there but we still saw a lot of cool stuff. Including… SHARKS!!

There was a whole group of Whitetip Reef Sharks just chillin’ on the bottom on our first dive. These are the same types of sharks we saw when diving in Australia, and I thankfully knew that they are not aggressive towards humans! It’s still totally creepy to watch them move, though, and these guys were pretty big – about 5 feet. I definitely started hearing the Jaws theme song in my head…

There were a lot of pretty reefs and fish around, too. We also saw a stingray, but didn’t get a picture!

The trip was a 2 tank dive, which meant that we dove in one spot with one tank, then relocated and got to dive again. Yay!

It was such a cool trip. I missed diving – it had been so long! I remember when I first dove being really surprised by how peaceful and quiet it was underwater. It’s very calming! And I was pleased how quickly my diving knowledge came back to me even after so many years – just like riding a bike.

After diving, we returned to the hotel to relax by the pool and on the beach for the afternoon.

I’ll close out our honeymoon recaps with this picture – Pura Vida. :) Costa Rica – thanks for the great times. We hope to see you again someday!

Also, a shout out to Cori at Frosch Travel who planned the majority of our honeymoon because I was too busy with grad school and wedding planning to do it myself – thank you for an amazing trip! :)

And to all of you – thanks for reading!
