Weekend Adventures

Hello friends!

I hope you all had a nice weekend. On Friday night, Matt and I went to his office’s winter social. I love an excuse to dress up. :) I dug this dress out from the back of my closet – no idea where it’s from (Macy’s?) but I think I originally bought it for New Years Eve circa 2005 or 2006!

The party was fun and it also gave me the opportunity to wear my wedding shoes again! Yay. :) My feet hurt by the end of the night but it was worth it, obviously. The party was held at the National Museum of Natural History downtown which was cool because we were able to wander around and look at the exhibits during the party.

Saturday was super low key – I was still fighting off a cold and it wasn’t nice outside, so Matt and I stayed home all day and got some work done. Making progress on the starting my own business front – stay tuned!

On Sunday morning, I met my girl Ashley for a run!

Ashley lives in Richmond now (she’s in grad school there) but was in town for the weekend. I miss my running buddy! We had a great time chatting away, as always. The trail was a bit snowy at parts (not slippery, just snowy – it felt like running in sand) – my calves are actually really sore today from all the extra work!

4.2 miles – done! Average pace: 8:50 minute miles. Pretty good, especially with the snow situation!

After our run, we walked over to Starbucks and strolled around with our coffee. It was cold yesterday but really sunny, and after a week of being cooped up with yucky weather it felt great to be outside!

The weekend closed with going to go see Les Miserables again last night! Matt hadn’t seen it and neither had our friends Annie and Mark (remember them from our honeymoon?), so the four of us decided to go last night. It was even better the second time around!

Before we headed to the movies, Matt and I decided to make homemade pizza for dinner. An old favorite – reminds me of girls nights with my UNC grad school girlfriends! Matt in action:

For the dough, we used Trader Joe’s whole wheat pizza dough. It’s the best – sold in the refrigerated section all ready to go!

For toppings, we had caramelized onions (just sauté thinly sliced onions in a pan with a little oil until they brown and soften).

Plus all sorts of veggies – peppers, mushrooms, and tomato, plus some fresh basil.

Topped with a light sprinkling of cheese and some pepperoni for good measure. :)

About 15 to 20 minutes later, and we had this. YUM!
