So, um, our wedding is tomorrow?! How did that happen?!
Love these cute stickers Matt’s mom made for our welcome bags!
Matt’s family arrived yesterday and last night, before a small family dinner, we all got together at my parent’s house for a quick wedding welcome bag assembly line! Guests staying in our designated wedding hotels will receive these bags as a welcome to our wedding weekend when they check in.
In the bags, we have a letter detailing the events of the weekend, shuttle timing, some fun local activities, etc. Isn’t it cute? My bridesmaid Jess designed it for us using one of her Mac programs and it came out awesome. Thank you, Jess!! And thanks for putting up with making a handout with someone who used to be an editor.
Also in the bags are some healthy snacks from a few of my favorite companies! I wanted to make sure the welcome bag snacks reflected my soon-to-be Registered Dietitian status, of course, so I emailed a few of my favorite healthy brands using my blog contacts to ask if they would be willing to send some samples for us to share in the bags. A HUGE thank you to Honest Tea, Attune Foods, and PopChips for sending snacks for our guests to enjoy. You guys rock!
Honest Tea has been a favorite brand of mine for years now. It’s the only bottled tea that I think is worth the money because it doesn’t have fake sweeteners or anything weird, is organic, mostly fair trade tea, and they sweeten very lightly with just a little real sugar or honey to take out the bitterness. It’s the best!
They are also based nearby in Bethesda, MD, so I was able to go pick up the tea myself, say hello to their staff, and get a tour of their office! So cool. They have a MASSIVE vending machine with every type of Honest Tea you can think of and in the area for a price, it just says “FREE.” Can I get that in my apartment, please?!
They also have fresh brewed tea on tap in the kitchen. Jealous!
My friends over at Attune Foods also sent some fun treats for our guests – their probiotic chocolate bars! These are delicious – and they have healthy gut-friendly bacteria in them, just like yogurt! Win-win. I had them send my two favorite flavors – mint chocolate and dark chocolate.
And last but not least – PopChips! I hung out with the ladies from the DC PopChips office last week at a wellness expo I worked at as part of my dietetic internship and was delighted to discover they have a sweet potato flavor. Perfect for the “fall harvest” theme we’re going for with the wedding this weekend. Yum!
Anyway! Time is ticking now and the fun is just about to begin! This morning, my mom is treating me and my bridesmaids to manicures and pedicures. We’ll grab lunch after, pack up the cars, and then start heading to the venue! We’re having the rehearsal dinner there tonight, too, which is great because everything will be all in one place.
I seriously can’t believe this weekend is finally here. Any advice from you former brides out there for maximizing awesomeness on the big day/weekend? I feel like it’s going to go by way too quickly!
Also, be sure to check back tomorrow – I have a post scheduled to go live at 7 a.m. to commemorate the big day. The weather is looking a little chilly but nice and sunny for this weekend – fingers crossed it stays that way since our ceremony is outside!
I’m going to try to pop in briefly on Sunday to share a few sneak preview photos of the weekend (and of course my dress!) before Matt and I head off on our mini-honeymoon! Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram (username: fANNEtasticfood) for updates throughout the weekend as well.
Happy Friday, everyone!
