A Farmer’s Market & McCormick Inspired Dinner

Hello, everyone! Glad you’re enjoying the wedding photography practice session pictures I put up last night!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Matt and I stuck around DC and got some wedding planning done, along with some relaxing and outdoor fun. On Saturday morning, we hit up the farmer’s market! There’s nothing like the farmer’s market to inspire you to make some healthy and delicious food, huh?

Mmm… so many options! We ended up buying some apples, baby kale, peppers, butternut squash, string beans, mixed greens, and some of this fun pumpkin yogurt. Image may be NSFW.

It was amazing. To make it yourself, simply mix together plain yogurt, canned pumpkin, and a little brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Image may be NSFW.

I need to pick up some canned pumpkin ASAP!

We put a bunch of our new produce to use for dinner on Saturday night:

While our side dishes were inspired by the farmer’s market, our dinner’s main course was inspired by McCormick.

I was sent this McCormick Recipe Inspirations packet as part of the DailyBuzz Food Tastemakers Program. Each inspirations packet includes exactly the amount of dried seasonings you need for a specific meal, plus a detailed recipe on the back (and a list of other ingredients you’ll need). Cute idea, right?

The recipe for Apple & Sage Pork Chops was really easy to follow and nice and simple, too – simply sear the pork chops (coated in some flour and seasonings) in a pan, then remove them from heat and, using the same pan, cook some thinly sliced apple and onion for a few minutes…

Add in some juice, a little brown sugar, and the rest of the flour/seasonings, return pork to skillet, bring to a boil, and let it simmer! The only thing we did differently regarding the recipe was we used apple cider instead of regular apple juice. Tis the season. Image may be NSFW.

And done! That was easy. Matt was in charge of the meat and I was in charge of the veggies. I kept it simple and sautéed our farmer’s market baby kale in some olive oil, lemon juice, and minced garlic, plus a little salt and pepper. I did the same thing with the string beans!

This was one of those meals that we were both “mmmm”-ing through the whole time. The pork was AMAZING. Seriously one of the best meals we’ve ever made at home, hands down. The seasonings were awesome and the apple and onions get nice and caramelized during the cooking and are so delicious on top. I’m not a big raw onion fan, but they were SO good caramelized!

We’re excited to have another favorite to add to our go-to recipes list! We have some more of the McCormick packets to use up, too, so I’m glad we liked it. Image may be NSFW.
