Morning! Who else is excited it’s already Thursday?! Yay for short weeks!
On Tuesday night, which really felt like Monday, I was off to Georgetown again for my favorite Lululemon Georgetown run club! Every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
No Crossfit this time because our fearless leader, Chris, was out of town for a competition, so we got straight down to the running. This time, we hit up the canal!
You guys know I love this canal and run on it a lot – just usually farther north. It was a very hot and humid night so we were all grateful for the flat terrain!
We had a fun group and everyone was chatting away, so the run went by nice and quickly. We did a simple out and back. 4.85 miles – check! I brought my Garmin instead of my new MOTOACTV watch because I was worried it would rain – I know the Garmin is waterproof but I wasn’t 100% sure about the MOTOACTV.
Splits:
- Mile 1: 8:45
- Mile 2: 8:44
- Mile 3: 8:52
- Mile 4: 8:51
- Pace for final 0.85 miles: 8:22
Our average overall pace was 8:43 min/miles. Good times! We headed back to the store after for some stretching and then, when I came back outside… this scary looking sky was awaiting me:
Ohhhh, crap. All of a sudden it started to get really windy, too. I nearly ran across the Key Bridge and back to the metro with this right on my heels!
Of course I stopped for a quick photo of the other direction off the bridge – beautiful!
Luckily, I made it into the metro and back home just before the massive downpour and thunderstorm started. Whew.
Happy Thursday, friends! Anyone have any funny stories to share about getting caught in the rain? I’ll always remember the night of my high school graduation – I went out to dinner with my family and there was such a massive downpour that the restaurant we were in actually partially flooded! It was crazy and quite the memorable evening.
